These pecan bars have a delicious and light crust on the bottom, and are topped with an even more delicious filling of pecans, butter, and brown sugar.

Before You Get Started Making Pecan Bars


Line a 9x13 inch pan with aluminum foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang on each side so you can pull the bars out of the pan when cool
Measure/Weigh the ingredients
Take the butter out of the refrigerator to come to room temperature
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F)

Pecan Bar Ingredients And Amounts (Yields: Varies on bar size)


Pecan Bar Crust

1 cup (227g) unsalted butter - softened at room temperature
2/3 cup (146g) packed light brown sugar
2 2/3 cups (373g) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp (3g) salt

Pecan Bar Topping

1/2 cup (114g) unsalted butter
1 cup (220g) packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup (113g) honey
2 tbsp (30g) heavy cream
2 cups (256g) chopped pecans

Pecan Bars Step-By-Step Directions


Pecan Bar Crust

1) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (F).

2) In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or mixing bowl if using a handheld mixer) combine the butter and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy.

3) Slowly add in the flour and salt into the mixer on low speed until combined and dough is crumbly.

4) Press the crumbly dough evenly into the foil-lined 9x13 baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Pecan Bar Filling

1) In a saucepan on medium heat, combine butter, brown sugar, honey, and heavy cream. Stir the ingredients frequently. Bring the filling to a simmer and then stir in the chopped pecans. Remove from the heat.

Pecan Bar Assembly

1) Once the crust is golden brown, remove from the oven and immediately pour the pecan filling on top.

2) Spread the filling evenly over the crust.

3) Bake now at 350 degrees (F) for 20 more minutes.

4) When pecan bars are baked, place pan on cooling rack and cool completely for a few hours before cutting.

5) Once the bars are completely cool, lift the bars out of the pan with the tinfoil overhang. Place the bars on the table and slice into whatever size pieces you prefer.
