1 cup (220g) dark brown sugar
1/2 cup (50g) sliced almonds
1/2 cup/1 stick (114g) unsalted butter - softened at room temp, cut into pieces

Apple Crisp Filling

1/2 cup/1 stick (114g) unsalted butter - brown the butter
1 tbsp vanilla bean paste or 1 caviar of a vanilla bean

1/3 cup (73g) dark brown sugar
1 tsp (3g) cinnamon
1 tbsp (13g) vanilla extract

Apple Crisp Step-By-Step Directions

Apple Crisp Delight Topping

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F). Grease an 8x8 inch pan and set aside.

2) In a bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and almonds and stir until combined.

3) Add pieces of softened butter into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter or fork. Combine until the mixture is crumbly in texture. Set the topping to the side.

Apple Crisp Delight Filling

1) To start making the filling, you must brown the butter. Heat a saucepan on medium heat, add in sliced butter and whisk frequently. Once the butter is melted, you will see a bit of foam form. Watch as the butter starts to turn a light brown color. Once the butter is lightly browned and it gives off a nutty aroma, remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl to cool. Stir in vanilla bean paste or caviar of one vanilla bean.

2) Set the browned butter to the side to cool while continuing with the filling.

3) Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples and place in a bowl.

4) Next, add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla to the apple slices and toss.

5) Next, pour the brown butter over the apples and toss again.

6) Take 1/2 cup of the topping that you set aside and add it to the apple mixture. Toss again.

7) Place the apple mixture into the greased 8x8 pan and sprinkle topping on, patting down as needed.

8) Bake for 55-60 until bubbly and golden brown. We suggest placing a baking sheet underneath the pan in case the filling bubbles over.

9) Remove from oven, cool for 10 minutes, break out that vanilla ice cream, and enjoy!
